That article on Covid changing travel writing was great. When we became nomads almost five year agos, being travel writers wasn't part of it. But many of the conclusions and changes Stubbs' comes to are ones we've stumbled onto ourselves. We're in Sarajevo at the moment and, man, it's going to take a while to process our six weeks here.

Hi James,

My wife & I are in Koh Samui in atm. We intend to travel to Georgetown/Penang by the end of the month. Any suggestion for areas of Georgetown to look & book accommodation? First time in Malaya & last 2 mths in Thailand. Thanks

Hi Trevor, the best option is to stay within the World Heritage area of Georgetown. Anything in this area is walkable. I have a map here https://www.nomadicnotes.com/where-to-stay-in-penang/ but I have noticed that a number of guesthouses have closed down during the pandemic.
