Travel Newsletter - 12 March 2021
Looking back at March 2020 and the year without travel. Visiting Sa Dec in the Mekong Delta, a possible Da Nang-Hoi Metro line, a 747 cafe in Bangkok, and more travel reads.
It’s been a year since that crazy week in 2020 when everything got weird. I was in Thailand at the time and I remember doomscrolling every morning while the world started closing down. Even though worse things had been happening, in my mind it got real when Tom Hanks announced he had COVID-19.
[This didn’t happen, but you never know with Australians.]
That was when I thought about where I should be for the forseeable future. I cancelled my trip and came back to Vietnam, which is where I’ve been ever since.
This week there was light at the end of a very long tunnel with vaccination beginning in Vietnam. 5.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in the next two months. There are 90 million people here, so I am not expecting to be jabbed anytime soon, but at least we are on the way.
